Jay
Inouye, BSc. (Kin). ATC/L, CSCS.
Jay is an Athletic Trainer and Strength and Conditioning coach working one
on one with New York Mets First baseman Carlos Delgado and other elite
professional athletes. He was a Major League Trainer and the Athletic
Training and Rehabilitation Coordinator for the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball
team.
Jay graduated from Simon Fraser University BSc (Kin) in 1996 and is a
board certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) by the National Athletic Trainers
Association (NATA), and National Strength and Conditioning Association as a
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) and is a member of
the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (CATA).
He worked with the NBA’s Vancouver Grizzlies in ’96 /
’97 and the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Club from 1998 to 2005.
He started as a minor league trainer, then the Athletic Training and
Rehabilitation Coordinator for the Club and was promoted to the Major
League team in 2003. He
left the team in 2005 to found Performancelab LLC, a company dedicated to
one on one rehabilitation, injury prevention and conditioning. His
principal client was Carlos Delgado of the New York Mets.
He has rehabbed some of Major League Baseball’s best
players. The list includes Carlos Delgado, Vernon Wells, 2003 Cy
Young award winner Roy Halladay, 2003 Cy Young Award runner-up Esteban
Loaiza, 2002 American League Rolaids Relief award winner Billy Koch among
others as well as local Pro Triathlete 2000 Ironman Switzerland and Ironman
FL Champion Tara-Lee Marshall.
He has traveled to most MLB cities in the American and National Leagues,
as well as Venezuela for Winter Ball. He is an active triathlete and
completed his first triathlon in ’87 and is a 8 time Ironman Finisher
(Canada '89, '90, '91, '08, 09 and Florida '03, '04, '05). He is a
contributor for the Athletic Minded Traveler a 450-page travel guide and
website recommended by Newsweek and Men’s Health magazines (among
others) dedicated to providing the best workout facilities,hotels,
restaurants and running routes, pools etc. for the traveling athlete.
Jay is well versed in the latest advancements in techniques in
rehabilitation and conditioning available to Major League Baseball and
professional sports, and has been a presenter to Physio therapists, RMTs,
Chiropractors and Physicians. He has some of the latest modalities
available including the new Hivamat 200 Deep Oscillation Therapy unit.
Jay splits his time between Level Ten Fitness Inc., also in North
Vancouver, and the Bloom Family Wellness Centre.
Jay is excited to bring the experience of a professional
training room to the general public at Bloom Family Wellness.
