Massage Therapy and Chiropractic- Complementary Health Care

Back pain, neck pain and headaches are just a few of the painful and distressing conditions that affect most of us at some time. Chiropractic and massage therapy, used in combination, form a powerful healing approach that addresses your pain on many levels. Whether your pain is the result of traumatic injury, overuse or stress, chiropractic and massage combined can greatly speed your return to a pain-free, productive life.

Chiropractic Supports Massage

If you are seeking massage therapy for pain but find your pain persists, recurs or even worsens after your massage, chiropractic could help in these ways:

·  if your pain involves a joint restriction(s), chiropractic adjustment may give immediate relief as your joint is restored to alignment and mobility

·  you may find that surrounding soft tissue heals quickly once it is no longer subjected to the stress of misaligned joints

·  the joint movement in chiropractic adjustments can sometimes relax deep layers of soft tissue that can be difficult to reach with massage.

For information on chiropractic treatment, please select the Chiropractic heading in the main menu to the left.

Additional Massage Therapy Information

Extended Health Care Plan Coverage

If you have an EHCP, please check if they require a MD referral in order for reimbursement. Your plan should cover more per visit this year. EHCP are not limited to what they can pay for the first 12 visits, as MSP doesn't supplement part of the cost. There are many EHCP so please check how yours works.

Medical Service Plan Coverage

Due to the health care cuts as of January 2002, MSP no longer covers a portion of massage therapy fees unless you are under premium assistance (annual income under $20,000).

Insurance Corporation of British Columbia Coverage

As a registered massage therapist we can treat patients with approved ICBC claims. If your claim has been accepted by ICBC, they should reimburse you $23 per visit. You are allowed a maximum of 12 visits in 8 weeks. We require your care card, a doctor's referral, the adjuster's name and your claim number.
